Upside down umbrellas

They never seize to amaze me. With their inventive decorating ideas. Usually more so at Anthro, but it's all in the family.

Experience Carsten Höller

On my 3rd visit to the New Museum, I had a ball. They have transformed it into a fun playground. Prior to this visit, I had not been too impressed with exhibits I had seen. This one rocked! You can ride on a yoyo like ferris wheel, down a slide, and wear glasses that make you seen everything upside down. Just watching others wearing these goggles and trying to walk like a normal human being is amusing enough.

If you have a chance to check out this exhibit by Carsten Höller, go!

Green Monster, Check!

I've been wanting to go to Red Sox Game very badly. Growing up in the Boston area there is no excuse for never having attended a game. The opportunity just didn't come my way. Last summer it was on my list of things to do and I never checked it off. So this year I was hardcore about making it happen.

Check. Done! I've never been that into baseball; find it kind of boring. But man this game might have hooked me! It was really fun. I lucked out with having a very good action packed game for my first one. Score was 10-4 and there were six homeruns! I totally want to go to another one now! Also, we had awesome seats all thanks to Amy!

Street Crocheting

It doesn't just happen in Chicago. It happens in NYC too! Because trees need to look good.

Bike racks as well!

Crack of the Tate Modern will soon be coming to NYC

Big long scribble on the sidewalk.

Maybe it is just me, but when I saw this, all I could think of was the big crack at the Tate Modern. I will get to work chiseling this out.

Become Your Dream.

So right about the time I left my job, a ghost writer started chalking messages all over Central Park that read, "Become your Dream." The first time seeing this, it really amped me up. I wanted to thank this person for giving me a boost.

We've had a really rainy season to and this person takes the time (or pays some helper) to go out and rechalk messages all over the park on a regular basis. I love it! After doing a little research I found the culprit behind the messages much easier than I was expecting. His name is James De la Vega and is an artist who lives in Soho who is known for his murals and chalk drawings. His trademark slogan which each street drawing is usually accompanied by is, "Become Your Dream." It is such a simple little saying, but seeing it all over the park is really motivating!

Also, this must be his trademark little character. He can be found all over the park too.

I like him!

Just want to throw out a thanks to James for inspiring me on a daily basis.

Lovely chair to sit upon.

Went to see some art with my sister over the weekend. We paid a visit to the New Museum where we saw exhibits by George Condo and Lynda Benglis. Pictures are not allowed, BUT I was allowed to take pictures of my favorite thing I saw on this visit. These chairs are located in the Sky room on the top floor, which is an open room, with just a few tables and chair and windows all around locating out with great city views. I want one, BADLY!

Happy Birthday to me!

A birthday is not complete without cake! And this year I was very very pleased to get to indulge in an amazing cupcake from Sweet Tooth in Southie for my special day. Might be the best cupcake I've ever had! The cake is nice and spongy and light and the frosting is my dream frosting: nice and sugary. They also have a great ratio going for them. This picture is deceiving. These are not jumbo cupcakes, but just your standard muffin pan size. They were cooked to have a muffin top though. The muffin top shape allows for a larger surface to apply frosting to and MORE frosting!

Next time you are in Boston, you must stop by Sweet Tooth!

Fave restaurant: Friendly Toast

This weekend I paid another visit to one of my fave restaurant in Boston right now.

Friendly Toast, in Kendell Square right near the landmark cinema.

I adore the food, ambiance, decorations, people....I could go on. It is this ultra hip diner type establishment that has kooky decorations all over the walls. I've been to lots of places that cover the wall with old antiques and such, but here they do it especially well and have selected such amusing things. The decoration also are very bright and vibrant and make for a fun color pallette. One room has covers of Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys as the wall paper. They also have things like this burger head and life size barbie figurines.

There are so many good things that are right up my alley on the menu. I always go back and forth and struggle to decide. They serve breakfast all days. And I looooove breakfast food. They make homemade bread which they slice ultra thick and it is to die for. They make an awesome grilled cheese (still second to Homegrown though!) You could also get a big plate of home fries and veggies, as a meal. It comes with toast too. You sis will probably make fun of your plate-of-carbs if you get it! Oh and they also have a drink called the Napoleon Dynamite!

Shoes I love

I just made a discover. Osborne Shoes.

I stumbled upon them because they were used for Mara Hoffman's Spring 2011 Lookbook shoot. Check it out:

These shoes are so unique and just plain awesome looking. I love all the fabrics they choose! They are made in Guatemala by local artisans and each shoes is hand-cut and assembled by hand. Also each shoe is signed by its maker as a stamp of pride for these local artists. Retailing at around $165, they are quite pricey. The fine craftsmanship and individuality of each shoe makes it seem almost worth it. I might be indulging!
