I’m obsessed with RUNNING!

Leslie and I had seen a poster advertising the Barcelona Marathon but just today I realized it is happening Sunday while I am still here AND it starts and ends right at Plaza Espana where my hotel is! I am beyond excited about it. I saw runners staying at our hotel and am just such freak and get excited about this. I walked through the expo where you pick up your packets. All the marathon excitement around makes me really wish I was taking part although when I do my first I want to be prepared and trained for it.

Today was another super nice day. It was even warm enough to just sport a t-shirt!! WOOHOO I went to see the Palau de Musica Catalanya which has mosaic columns and stucco detailing. It was hard to photograph because it’s on a very narrow street and you can’t back up enough to get a good view. I only got to appreciate the outside because tours were sold out until 4 pm!! How crazy is that! It would have been nice to have seen the inside because in pictures it looked awesome with lots of stained glass.

It’s crazy how crowded it was out today. Leslie definitely came at right time because it wasn’t quite this busy out at the beginning of the week. I wandered through side streets and feel like Barcelona just has so much to offer. I wish sometimes I could be guided around by a native to the area to learn where al the secret intriguing places are. The street performers were out in full force. Actual I don’t even know if you could call them performers when all you do is dress up and pretend to be a statue! My last stop was Palau Güell, another Gaudi building which was also hard to photograph. The roof of this place has these decorative chimneys on it that look like swirly ice cream of bundles of fruit.

I went for a run and trekked up Montjüic again but then stayed up there just circling. I did a tempo and about a mile in I found a different track that was opened so I finished my tempo on there so I could tell I was on speed. It had been awhile since I have gotten in a quality workout so it felt really good. The track is right across from where we are playing and is pretty un-maintained. It didn’t even have lines and there was a decaying steeple barrier that looked as if it might crumble if you stepped on it.

Leslie’s first gay outing.

So as part of visiting an ice show it is customary to be taken to a gay club and this is exactly what happened to Leslie on Tuesday night. We ended up at a place with another creepy drag queen. I don’t know why they are so into them here in Spain but I’m getting sick of it. It was a fun night though. They played some good tunes including two Spice Girls songs so Mauricio was in heaven. Leslie impressed Mauricio with her Spanish skills so he put her to work talking to a guy he fancied!

Today was my last day with Leslie :( There weather was gloomy again and I was definitely feeling all the hilly runs we’d been doing. We went down by the water where that big fish sculpture is. Then Leslie and I walked around Las Ramblas shopping a little and continuing to wear ourselves out. We went on one last run together and then had a pretty relaxing night.

Gaudi. Loves it!

After another lovely run with Leslie we took on the day with Adrienne and Mauricio and started at the La Pedrera this apartment building designed by Gaudi. Today turned out to be a lot warmer and the sky was blue so pictures were way better! We toured the inside and got to see us one of the apartment which covered a full floor and wrapped all around the inner courtyard aka it was a pretty awesome apt. which I’m sure cost a heck of a lot. The attic was dedicated to showing some of Gaudi’s planning that went in to the structure including a model. The attic ceiling contains 270 curved brick arches of all different height to support the crazy roof. That brings me to the best part, roof terrace which was covered with these funny looking unique sculptures.

After eating some lunch outside by the Pedrera we jumped on the bus and went to la Sagrada Familia. This is Gaudi’s famous Temple of the Holy Family that began being built in 1883 and is yet to be finished. I really wish they would move more rapidly and finish this because right now it is surrounded by cranes and just this huge construction site. It is pretty creepy looking and shows that Gaudi must have had some kind of bi-polar tendency because some of his work is so fun, cheerful, and colorful while others like this is grey and dismal. There is just so much detail on this temple that it is hard to focus your eyes and to me it looks like it is melting. The newer parts are so much whiter and cleaner so they don’t match. I feel they need to do some cleaning on the original but I think they have their hands full finished this ongoing project.

Next we went to Parc Guëll which is where Guadi’s work is best in tune with nature (hahaha that is how our bus guide put it) It felt like we were walking into some kind of Tim Burton Amusement park with the two cool entrance buildings and staircase covered in mosaic tiling. Also right at the front was Gaudi’s famous mosaic dragon. The park was really awesome and I really loved seeing all the mosaics. There was covered area that had a really awesome mosaic ceiling and on top of this area is the famous cursive benches by Josep Maria Jujol. We bumped into many other Disney people in the park.

Gaudi’s stuff it is really avant garde and weird but I just love it. Some of it is really bright and happy but other stuff is grey and creepy. He definitely had some kind of bi-polar thing going on. He used a lot of mosaic too which I love!

Leslie and Chachi in Spain! Nothing could be better!

I’m a fan of Barcelona. It is the first of the Spain city I have really enjoyed. All the cards have been laying out so nicely so I’m sure that helps too. Aside from having one of the coolest girls ever visiting and seeing Chachi today, we were staying in the nicest hotel of the year that has an awesome breakfast and is in a good location not at the farthest point of the city!!

It is fabulous having a running buddy here. We are staying at Plaza Espanya which is right near Montjuic the area where the Olympic complex is from the ’92 Summer Games and as you can guess Mont=super hilly. We climbed more hills on this one run then I probably have all tour. It was a good place to run though because we didn’t have to deal with a city loop involving people and lights.

Our first day in Barcelona was not the prettiest. It was overcast and gloomy out and it drizzled for a little while. We decided to go on one of those double-decker tour buses which I have never done before. It was fun but I was not dressed appropriately so I got super cold. They are definitely a good way to see everying but I do think in general I prefer going around on my own and picking and choosing for myself. The sky was not allowing me for any good pictures so I am hoping tomorrow will be better. The bus took us through Montjuic, down by the water where we could see the port, beach, and world trade center, then to las ramblas the main road downtown and by some of the Gaudi buildings.

After our bus trip we met up with Chachi who just so happened to be stopping through Barcelona on a little European adventure. I couldn’t believe it when we told me when he was going to be here! It was so thrilling seeing familiar faces from school and catching up! We were super hungry at this point so we went to this place called Café Catalunya and I had my first genuine Spanish meal. I tried a chicken paella and it was pretty good! It is this rice dish that is cooked in a skillet and is just a shmorgedge-borge of random things all thrown in. My only complaint was that the chicken had bones in it and I hate having to work at get meat off the bones. After that we checked out the market on Las Ramblas, Mercat de la Boqueria which is a covered market from the 19th century. It was filled with fruits, vegetables, meats (including the legs they have hanging everywhere which I don’t appreciate!), and candy. Some of the displays were so perfectly arranged it was out of hand!

Later that night Leslie and I met Chachi and his traveling buddies for a drink. They were staying at a hostel right off of las Ramblas. They took us to this bar they had already visited that had really cheap drinks. It was kind of a hole in the wall but you could tell at one point it was a really nice place because the wall all had murals on them that had just been warning over the years. It was so nice chatting with Chachi and catching up.

Happy Birthday to me!

So Thursday after the show, Skyler, Adrienne, Mauricio, and Alex got a little party together for me. It was really nice because so many people came. They bought snack and refreshments and got me a huge card. After that we went out and ended up at this gay bar. It was not the greatest place especially for my birthday but looking back it was pretty amusing. I had wanted to go somewhere we could dance and here they weren’t playing the best music and then they all together turned it off because a crew of drag queen came out and were talking. Maybe it would have been more amusing if we could understand them but I was not so amused. I think they were making fun of us. They pulled Adrienne on to the stage and made fun of her for having a boy name. They were trying to get them to take me on the stage since it was my birthday was I was not having it.

We ended up leaving and going to another better place for a short amount of time and danced a little then Adrienne and I went back and feasted on chips and salsa and M&M’s. On my real birthday I got a few giftos at my makeup area which was very nice! Brittany Drury got me this very tasty fancy dessert which was awesome because I didn’t get to have any birthday cake!! After the show we attempted to go out to dinner, attempt being the key word. I ended up having a piece of bread and French fries. Hahaha I am still not one with the Spanish menus and restaurants apparently!

In Zaragoza being attacked by killer umbrellas.

I am now in Zaragoza which isn’t the most thrilling of a location. We are right downtown staying at Hotel Goya which is right out of the 70’s! It isn’t too bad though; the receptionist are very unhelpful and the beds are slightly concaved but continental breakfast is pretty banging! Yesterday I don’t know what was up but I was still in my bad mood from the past weekend. Maybe it is birthday blues or something? It also probably didn’t help that on Sunday, Evegeny’s computer was stolen from the arena. Everyone was talking about how horrible this is because it is like losing his life…….A lovely reminder to me! Esp. since I had just realized on Saturday I don’t have an up-to-date resume anymore and have to redo it since it is lost in the hand of some hoodlum in the south shore area now.

Back to Zaragoza….It was pooring out but I needed to snap out of my mood so I headed out for a run to detox. I venture out on the packed sidewalks to meet a sea of umbrellas. People in Zaragoza must be crazy because I ended up getting hit twice with umbrellas! This made me both furious and upset. I couldn’t continue and had to turn back; therefore I never got rid myself of the bad mood and it stuck through the night.

Today I woke up feeling much better! It wasn’t raining in the am so I got out for a run and didn’t have to live in fear of being attacked by umbrellas! After that we went out with Brittany Drury and Mauricio to look around. We were planning on doing a tour bus because it only cost 3 euro but they only run on the weekend so that wasn’t a go. We walked by the Basilica which is totally covered in scaffolding right now so we could appreciate it really well! Hahaha There is also this fun fountain nearby it that looks kind of like a cliff with water dropping off of it. It also slightly resembles a map but a made up one and not any place specifically. The fountain decided to siesta while we were looking at it! Everyone in Spain likes to siesta I guess, even the water.

The inside of the basilica which pretty cool. What stuck out to me about it was that there was this dome ceiling structure within the church that had holes designed into. Through the holes you could see the outer dome ceiling; I wish I could have snapped a photo of it. Also there were trays with really long candles on them. They were all at slightly different lengths and there were droplets from them melting on the tray. I just thought the tall candles made for a much more striking looks that the usual tea lights you see in church.

After that we also checking out the old roman amphitheater. It was pretty ruined. It originally had three levels of seating and only one remains. That is how much has destroyed over the years. It was pretty cool seeing that.

Deetee should be in Madrid.

So I feel as though Madrid has slightly gone to waste on me. My sis should definitely be here in my place; I feel she would have appreciated this city a lot! It is known for its art and is filled with tons of galleries and museum. I regret to say I didn’t go to a single one this whole week! I also didn’t end up going to see the bull ring or to a flamenco dancing bar; two things I had been interested in doing. I’m not sure what has brought me into this schlump. Maybe I just needed a break from such extensive sightseeing because I have been going so strong all tour long. It is just a shame that it happened in Madrid when there is lots to see.

Dunkin Donuts.......in MADRID!

Last night we had a night out on the town. There was quite a large group of us that all went. Clubs here in Spain don’t open until 1 am so we first went to a ball called Why Not? I wore new heels I just bought and on the way to the metro they were already killing me so you can imagine my feet by the end of the night. I shouldn’t have bought them because I now know my poor little square toes are squished in them.

The place felt like you were entering a bomb shelter because you went down stairs as soon as you entered and there were no windows. It was a nicely decorated bomb shelter though. The ceiling actually looked like a curved embellished ceiling you’d find in a museum or palace. They were playing good music but it was too small so there was no room to dance. Leslie had told me that in Spain they are always giving free drinks away and tonight the bartenders were doing this just like she said. Alex was asking around where we should go after this and the guy directed us to his friends place and said we would get in for free and could get free drinks. It was close by so we figured we’d give it a go and if it stunk we could just leave and not have lost anything.

We walked in and it was empty. There were two other guys there and that was it so it was like our own private party for awhile which was awesome. Christina from crew went upstairs and they were letting her control the lighting effects. We were all dancing away and they were playing really fun music! They played a lot of Brittany and Spice Girls so Mauricio was in heaven. I requested the thong song just to be funny. It was a really fun night; I just wish I had been wearing flats!

This morning I got to catch up with Brittany at breakfast who has been gone for 6 weeks. She along with Sasha, one of the Russian got back today. The excitement of the day was finding a Dunkin Donuts! It was actually called Dunkin Coffee. Me and Alex, my fellow Mass buddy were both stoked although it didn’t quite live up to the ones at home. I think I was more excited to just see something so familiar. Probably the only hot chocolate I really like in the world is Dunk’s so I ordered some but the crazy European version was horrid in my eyes. I’m sure lots probably would like it even more. It resembled thick drinking chocolate but it didn’t have the creamy milk chocolate taste it has in the taste. This was slightly bitter and I couldn’t drink it. My French cruller was delightful though! We also checked out this Temple that was given to Spain as a gift from Egypt.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

Today Adrienne and I met up with Brittany and Amanda and walked through the park. We rented a row boat at the pond in the middle which was a lot of fun! It was only for 45 minutes which was plenty of time for each of us to have a turn and tire our arms out. After a boat journey, we kept walking through the park. I hadn’t realized but the main center of Madrid is in walking distance from us. It is definitely a long walk but walk-able none-the-less and that is such a pleasant change from the norm!

Poor Brittany was in so much pain. She fell last week and re-irritated a back injury she has had. You could tell she was struggling so much with just walking. She is taking this week off and I really hope that helps her out because I would hate if she was sent home.

Next we saw the bear and strawberry tree statue which is apparently a known symbol for Madrid. The statue was smaller than I was expecting. I’m not quite sure what the symbolism and meaning of it is especially since Strawberries don’t even grow on trees but I did like it of course because you can’t really go wrong with bears.

We met Mauricio and his niece, Danni, at a restaurant called Wagaboo. Galen has been attached to Mauricio all week since they are rooming so he showed up too. The kitchen was going to close soon so we had to decide quickly what we wanted. This was such a stressful endeavor for me: I hate not knowing what things are; the menu was all in Spanish and Mauricio was translating some but we were so pressed for time he couldn’t take his time explaining things. I saw some people at another table eating this chicken dish which looked good so I had Mauricio inquire about but of course they had run out of that one. He ordered me this chicken noodle dish. I was scared though; as absurd as that sounds. People probably think I’m crazy ughh which I hate. Amanda commented on how picky I am later and I hate that people here think of me as so picky because I don’t think of myself as being that bad! My food ended up being really good. It tasted similar to chicken lo mein so I really had no reason to have gotten so worked up.

Jardines del Buen Retiro = FIERCE!

I arrived in Madrid late late last night so I slightly slept in to recuperate from a weekend of not much sleep. When I got up I headed out for a run which ended up being totally AMAZING. I headed right down O’Donnell and was getting wicked annoyed dodging people and getting caught at lights. After about four minutes of thinking to myself, this sucks I spotted a park, but not just any ordinary park, Jardines del Buen Retiro is the largest park I have seen in all my travels of Europe. I was so stoked. Most parks here are so friggin tiny that provide me with about a five minutes loop and that’s it. This park took me about 20 minutes to do the outer loop but then there was so much more thrilling of paths through the center that I then went back to explore.

Later Adrienne and I went downtown and did a walk that her guide book recommended. We started at the Plaza Mayor, this big open square that is surrounded by buildings, one that was painted wit colorful murals and looked like a gingerbread house. There were so many people and the whole perimeter was lined with restaurants that had patio seating and it was the perfect day to sit outside and soak in the sun. I kept seeing people sucking on lollipop and thought it quite odd; I was thinking, wow the Spanish really are into lollipops but a few minutes later Adrienne and I were right there with them because people were handing out them for free for some promotional advertising so it guess it wasn’t some Spanish lollipop had.

From the plaza we made our way to the Cathedral Nuestra Senora de la Almudena and the Palacio Real. We weren’t planning on going in but then we saw Meredith and her mom and they talked us into it. I’ve been in lots of castle and palace so at first I was not feeling too impressed but then we made it to the dressing room. This room was AMAZING; probably my favorite room ever in any palace or castle! All the rooms have dome ceiling with painting in them but this one had these ornate stucco detailing of vines and flowers. It made for such a striking look with the designs all embossed and coming out at you. It is crazy too that this room was just used to get dressed in although they tried to make it cooler and said the ceremony of getting dressed takes place here. There was another room really different and cool room that was totally covered in porcelain! It was like standing inside a tea pot! The wall and ceiling were all covered in sculpted porcelain flower design. It was really over the top but like nothing I had ever seen before.

After gawking at lavish rooms we walked back to the Plaza Manor and ate some food outside on the patio. I saw Tortilla Espanoala on one of the menu so we had to go there. I was very excited because Leslie had been raving about this dish and said I would like it. It turns out I had it last week when we got tapas and hadn’t even realized! This time it was way better thought because it was warm. And I do really like this dish!!

It was so nice just sitting in the sun and the man playing the guitar was still going strong! There were so many birds everywhere. I had some bread left over so I started throwing little crumbs on the ground and the bird were all flocking over fighting for them. There was one that wasn’t getting any and I felt really bad for him. It was amusing me thoroughly feeding the birds and watching them. Then one really ballsy one came up on the table and started eating crumbs! The sun was starting to sneak behind the building so we knew it was time to leave. I had been very ambitious I wore just a long sleeve which I regretted at this moment.

My take on Tapas.

Today we took a bus to San Sebastian. I was expecting a small beach town and was surprised what a large city San Sebastian was. When we got in we were trying to make sense of where we were and figure out how to get to the old town and beach. We ended up on a bus we thought we take us there but instead ended up driving out of town to who knows where! We road the whole loop back to where we started which was just so aggravating and put us all in crappy moods. When we got off Mau asked someone for help and we walked from there to the beach! UGHH Once we got there seeing the ocean lifted our spirits and we were happy again. We took our shoes off and put our feet in the freezing water and I think I was the only one who didn’t end up getting my pants soaked. We bumped into three other skaters, Christine, JJ, and Adam on the beach and took some High School Musical jumping pictures.

After that we fell into the same predicament of being hungry and no restaurants being opened! I was losing hope so I got a pastry to hold myself over and we finally all gave in and got tapas at a bar. I am very under whelmed by tapas though and I had heard such great things about them prior to coming. They aren’t not what I had been expecting at all; I thought at a tapas bar you would sit down and order different appetizer type dishes to share but all the places we have seen just have plates of little finger foods sitting out on the bar counter and you can come up and get some. At the place we stopped at there were many choices not for me and even this crazy squid tentacles one which freaked me out. I stuck to the potato omelets on bread which is very boring of me. We sat outside in this courtyard where there were little children playing. They amusing us so much while we ate especially this little boy trying to skateboard on the tiniest board I’ve ever seen. Oh and also on our way back to the bus station I saw a Golf police car and was so stoked about it!! Check it out!

Hey Spaniards can you please stop this whole siesta thing?

So I just can’t seem to adjust to the eating schedule over here. Everyday I end up being hungry when everything is closed and there is no food in sight. Hopefully I will master the art of the siesta soon because this is only week one of eight in Spain!

Today, Adrienne, Brittany, Mauricio, and I stayed in Bilbao and went to the Guggenheim Museum. This structure is really the only noteworthy thing Bilbao has going for itself. When it was built in 1997, it reinvented the city and helped bring in all the business it has today. I loved seeing the Guggenheim! It is such a crazy looking building. My favorite part of going there was seeing the building itself. In the gift shop, I was looking at a book on the architect Frank O. Gehry and found it so mind blowing because the structures he designs are amazing but from looking at his sketches you would never know what was coming. He had impeccable visions in his head but on paper the Guggenheim resembled a big mess of scribbles!

Right now there is an exhibition called, “Art in the USA: 300 Years of Innovation.” It went through all the different art movements and trends chronologically which was neat. I really liked the older periods where they used such details and life like qualities in the pieces. A lot of the more present day works were so modern and I don’t always like modern contemporary pieces. I did like the pop art section and saw a Andy Warhol that looked exactly like one that I have seen at Kippy’s place in Maine.

After a couple hours we were starved and I was losing interest out of hunger. Nothing was open though. It is so weird to me seeing all the restaurant closed mid day. We walked a couple block and then back tracked and went into the Guggenheim snack bar which only had a few pre-made things out on the counter. After that Mauricio went back in to finish the last two rooms and us girls went outside to get more pictures of the building from the other side of the river.

Mauricio, my Spanish translator.

Our shows are not selling well here in Spain so they have cancelled some shows. This week our schedule is 1 shows Friday, 2 Saturday, 1 Sunday! Never in my life have I even heard of a two show Saturday! I guess since we weren't selling they decided to plaster our posters everywhere. I haven't seen so many advertisement in any other city. Even at the metro station when you go to buy a ticket you see us!! WOO WOO

So far I have dealt with many rude people in Spain and people always give France such a bad wrap! I have yet to venture anywhere without Mauricio so he has been my handy dandy translator. Dialect is different here though so he wonders if that has to do with some of the rudeness people have given him and us. They speak Catalan hear as well as Spanish so that is throwing him off somewhat too. I also am not so sure about the food here. It has only been two days so it is too early to judge but I haven’t liked what I have had thus far.

When we got in last night Mauricio, Adrienne, Brittany, and I went to this restaurant and dealt with a very rude waiter. There was only one table that sat four empty but it only had 3 chairs so I started to move a chair from another table and he got mad at me. The reason the chair was missing was a lady had taken it to put her coat and purse on. When he noticed this he was pissed off and attempted to take it back from her but finally went back and took the chair I was originally going to put at the table!

I didn’t understand the menu at all and Mauricio didn’t know all the ingredients listed in certain dishes so I was quite worried about ordering. I went for this pasta dish I thought was just going to have vegetables in it but turns out one of the words Mauricio didn’t known was a kind of fish. I pushed the fish to the side but the pasta had a slightly fishy taste to it which left me very unsatisfied  On our walk Mauricio had us all dying laughing though. He stepped right in front of a car that was pulling out of a parking lot but mind you it was at a complete stop. It startled him and he jumped so high and then turned and was just facing the car like a deer in headlights. It was so funny and the people in the car got a good laugh as well.

Today we went downtown to take a train to Santander, a beach village. The trains don’t run very often so we had some time to kill in town before taking our journey. At the station we dealt with a couple other highly unhelpful mean people. Bilbao is very cute and the weather was perfect out. Children all over the place were dressed in costumes and I was curious if it was some kind of Spanish Halloween today. Turns out it is this carnival they have as a last hoorah before this religious fasting.
Our train ride ended up being A LOT longer than we were expecting. Santander is only 75 km away but the train took us 3 hours! Pretty ridiculous!! It was a learning lesson; all the other countries have had such awesome rail system so who knew Spain was still very prehistoric. We now know to stray away from trains and stick to buses for the rest of Spain. The ride although it was long was really beautiful and took us right through the countryside by lots of cows and the cutest lambs. It was also very hilly and we could admire mountains in the distance.

When we arrived we headed right for the water and found ourselves at a dock with no beach in sight. We started walking along the water trying to make it to the beach. My energy was running on low though because I was so hungry so we finally gave up and took a bus. The water was a deep aqua color and there were tons of surfers out which was fun to watch. There wasn’t a seaside boulevard which we had been expecting and it was slightly hard to find a restaurant to eat at. We finally spotted one and settled for it. We all drank cider, a specialty of the area, and it was very tasty. Choosing what to eat was hard again but this time at least we had English translations. I got the one chicken dish which was ok but very oily and greasy. Oh and I am still running on French autopilot so I responded to our waitress by saying “Oui”….woops! hahahaa

Feeding Ponies

This morning I woke up and ran one last time in the Uiterwaarden Engelses Werk park I have been enjoying all week in Zwolle. After that I brought my luggage down to the bus then went over to admire the two miniature ponies in the field next to our hotel. My favorite was the tan one because whenever I would see him, he’d look like he was having a grand old time running laps around his pen. The black and white was so boring and just stood there doing nothing. When I went over by the fence the tan one came right over to see me! Tasha came out after and brought an apple and a pear pre-cut to feed them which she’s been doing all week. She let me feed my favorite one and it was soooo cool; it made my morning because I had never fed a horse before! Turns out, not only is the black and white pony boring but he’s also super mean. He kept trying to ram into the tan one and even attempted to kick him! I hate bullies!

Watching Ice all night long.

We have been playing venues that don’t have there own ice surface so we have ice guys that install tank ice in the venue each week. There is a compressor that is keeping the ice cool but since this isn’t a permanent feature in the building it has a lot more of a chance to have an issue and malfunction and we’d be screwed if it just turned off and we were left with a puddle where the ice had once been. So because of this there is an ice watcher every night that must check every two hours that the compressor was still running and the ice isn’t wet. Anyone can volunteer and Adrienne and I decided to try it out on Saturday night. We tag teamed this job because we were too scared to stay at the rink ourselves. It actually turned out to be a really fun night. It was like a slumber party……only in a freezing cold rink.

We skated and I haven’t skated since Thanksgiving which is both crazy and horrible! It was wicked fun. Jarrod stayed and skated for a little with us too. I impressed myself with doing all my jumps. A perk to doing ice watch is being able to use the washer and dryer as you please. I got to do two loads and even did a third to watch my jacket and robe. The dryers were slow so it literally took all night but regardless it was awesome to get it done and have everything clean for once. At one point I heard this squeaking noise and started yelling for Adrienne. We seeked out the noise and were brought to the barrel props used in the pirate number. Someone on crew had neglected to turn them off probably just to scare us.

This building is pretty ghetto and doesn’t have any rooms that we could use for our make up and costume room so instead we have cubicle-like walls to create rooms. If you can imagine this meant these rooms were frigid and this is where we had the pleasure of sleeping. It actually was totally fine though because we each had a space heater we could use and I actually got so overheated I turned mine off. We created beds on the floor with exercise mats and comforters and pillows we may have borrowed from the hotel and it was pretty comfy.

We watched Music and Lyrics which had me laughing my head off. I think I liked it so much just because of the 80’s style music video for Pop’s single “Pop goes my heart.” This morning I couldn’t stop singing it and it was especially funny in my over-tired state. I probably got three and a half hours of sleep but surprisingly felt very much awake all day today. It wasn’t too bad at all. I think the worse part was going to the bathroom which was on the other side where there weren’t as many lights on. I would run all the way there and back.
