I’m obsessed with RUNNING!

Leslie and I had seen a poster advertising the Barcelona Marathon but just today I realized it is happening Sunday while I am still here AND it starts and ends right at Plaza Espana where my hotel is! I am beyond excited about it. I saw runners staying at our hotel and am just such freak and get excited about this. I walked through the expo where you pick up your packets. All the marathon excitement around makes me really wish I was taking part although when I do my first I want to be prepared and trained for it.

Today was another super nice day. It was even warm enough to just sport a t-shirt!! WOOHOO I went to see the Palau de Musica Catalanya which has mosaic columns and stucco detailing. It was hard to photograph because it’s on a very narrow street and you can’t back up enough to get a good view. I only got to appreciate the outside because tours were sold out until 4 pm!! How crazy is that! It would have been nice to have seen the inside because in pictures it looked awesome with lots of stained glass.

It’s crazy how crowded it was out today. Leslie definitely came at right time because it wasn’t quite this busy out at the beginning of the week. I wandered through side streets and feel like Barcelona just has so much to offer. I wish sometimes I could be guided around by a native to the area to learn where al the secret intriguing places are. The street performers were out in full force. Actual I don’t even know if you could call them performers when all you do is dress up and pretend to be a statue! My last stop was Palau Güell, another Gaudi building which was also hard to photograph. The roof of this place has these decorative chimneys on it that look like swirly ice cream of bundles of fruit.

I went for a run and trekked up Montjüic again but then stayed up there just circling. I did a tempo and about a mile in I found a different track that was opened so I finished my tempo on there so I could tell I was on speed. It had been awhile since I have gotten in a quality workout so it felt really good. The track is right across from where we are playing and is pretty un-maintained. It didn’t even have lines and there was a decaying steeple barrier that looked as if it might crumble if you stepped on it.
