After our shows, I went to the Louvre for the night discount rate. I planned to stay til it closed and attempt to see it all. This was an ambitious plan though. After walking around for two and a half hours I was shot and totally over it. I covered a lot of ground though; much more than this summer when I came. It is just so massive it is impossible to cover it all in one visit. I was most drawn to all the statue wearing draped clothing. I was intrigued looking at the style of the drapings. I also really like how the building itself is a piece of artwork. Many of the rooms have lavish ceiling with painting in them that are really awesome.
When people think of the Louvre the first painting that comes to mind is the Mona Lisa. I feel it is so over hyped and is no better than some of the other paintings but somehow it has become such an icon. They take drastic measured to protect it to which is so absurd. It now is contained in this glass box and then has two sets of barricade in front of it and two guards on either side! So unnecessary!

Yeah, I've been to the Louvre a few times and don't feel like I've seen the whole thing...I like that you appreciated the building, it's purty.
